DAILY EYELID AND EYELASH HYGIENE

Eyelid hygiene is the first treatment of choice for blepharitis and in the prevention of hordeolum and recurrent episodes of chalazions. Blepharitis is the most frequent cause of evaporative dry eye due to alteration of the lipid layer of the tear. The use of eyelid hygiene in the days before intraocular surgery significantly reduces the periocular bacterial load.
